Activator

What is Activator?

The activator is a Chiropractic tool that allows Chiropractors to use small, quick thrusts into a joint without using their hands. The Activator itself is a tool that utilises a spring, which allows the Chiropractor to pull on a handle mechanism. It then gets to the end of the tension of the spring, which allows a thrust to come out of the tip of the Activator.

The purpose of the Activator is to be high speed so that we can perform a high speed but low force thrust into a joint in which we are aiming to produce a reflexive relaxation. The instrument also allows for a very specific style of adjustment, which is more difficult to produce by hand. The Activator will have 3 or 4 settings on it to change the amount of force applied to the patient depending on the area of adjustment. Lower forces are needed for your neck and slightly higher tension is required for your lower back or hips.

Chiropractors who utilised the true Activator method will assess your leg length to evaluate if your legs are the same length, or different length. By checking the leg length the Chiropractor is able to figure out where the adjustment should be applied in the body.

Activator is a low force treatment technique that can be utilised on small children or on the elderly with only a small chance of complications. A skilled Chiropractor will be able to minimise the risks involved in this procedure.

Just like any form of care there is no guarantee that a particular style will work for your individual needs. Therefore, our Chiropractors perform assessments and get to know you before deciding on which treatment technique would be suitable for you. People react differently to different types of treatment and there is not one treatment that will work for everybody. If our Chiropractors don’t believe that the Activator method treatment is the correct treatment for you, or your problem, then they will either refer you to someone else who can help or talk to you about alternative methods of treatment.

If you are nervous about the popping sound that comes along with traditional Chiropractic techniques then Activator adjustment may be just what you need.

Due to how low force the Activator technique is, it has quickly become one of the most widely used Chiropractic techniques world. Most Chiropractors will have an activator that they used for some variety for different patients. Get more information now.
